However, it would be a disservice not to acknowledge Halloween and the candied treats it brings.
Thank goodness for My Delight Cupcakery in Ontario, California. Their menu for the month of October is full of chocolate candy inspired flavors – M&M, Butterfinger and Heath Bar, just to name a few.
My dilemma was choosing simply one.
In this instance, I let the praise from another blogger, Chronicles of a Foodie help me decide.
I settled upon the Almond Joy Cupcake. It’s a coconut cake with an almond filling, topped with coconut buttercream, dipped in chocolate ganache, and then sprinkled with almonds.
Before I continue, let me first say that from time to time, I come across a cupcake that I recommend for serious aficionados, as it may be “too much” for those faint of heart.
This was one of those cupcakes.
To behold the Almond Joy Cupcake in its entirety was deceiving.
As my fork separated a piece, it revealed a creamy mound of coconut buttercream beneath the chocolate ganache. It was a baking miracle that it stayed balanced atop the cake.
The coconut cake was moist. The frosting was sweet with ample coconut and the nutty ganache was rich. I soon reached the almond filling, which added another level of delight.
I’m not sure if it was poor rationing on my part or evidence of just how generous the frosting was, but I ran out of cake towards the end. As a result, I had to finish the coconut buttercream and ganache by itself – a welcome problem for a Frosting Fanatic.
Afterwards, I downed a glass of milk and succumbed happily to a cupcake coma.
Thank you, My Delight Cupcakery for an amazing treat! Perhaps I’ll squeeze in one more candied cupcake from your October Menu.
